Dean Opitz
Welcome from the Interim Dean!

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to DePaul University’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies, where we structure learning and student support in response to adult students’ busy lives, talents, and interests. Internationally recognized for our pioneering programs that leverage students’ prior knowledge and wed theory with practice, our School continually innovates to be ever-relevant to adult students today.

Grounded in the liberal arts, our programs inspire students across their life cycle to transform themselves while journeying with us. We offer a range of innovative certificate, bachelor’s, master’s, and lifelong learning programs that encourage our students to advance themselves as creators, change agents, and leaders across sectors and within their homes and communities. From bachelor’s degrees in leadership studies, computing, healthcare administration, and more, to certificates in financial planning and human resources, to a customizable masters degree in applied, professional studies, we offer courses of varying lengths during evenings and weekends, online, and on-site at corporate, educational and civic partners. We award credit through prior learning assessment. Our alumni’s accomplishments are testaments to the transformative impact of learning through our School.

Our faculty and staff are leading professionals who contribute their talents to advance adult learning. Our core of twelve tenured faculty possess top-notch expertise that span the liberal arts, social and natural sciences, and business. Dozens of adjunct faculty are practitioners within a spectrum of industries, ensuring that instruction emphasizes the relevance of theory for application in real-world settings. Our clerical and professional staff, who help manage our programs and provide students with advising and support, possess the same characteristics as our students: they are lifelong learners who are credentialed in a range of disciplines and understand the constant interplay of work, family, community, and school.

Among the School’s shared values, we are especially committed to the work of social justice and promoting diversity, equity and inclusion. These core values form the backbone of our School’s strategic plan: Transformation for Success: The Plan for 2019–2022.

We welcome new students throughout the year, with opportunities to pursue new degrees and certificates in the fall, winter, spring and summer. To get started, visit our admissions online portal.

And with that, I extend my best wishes for your success!
