Biography

Leyfane is the Communications and Engagement Manager at the School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS) Office of the Dean. She serves on the departments' Excellence Awards and Social Justice: Diversity and Inclusion Committees. She is the Communications Director of the DePaul Chapter 272, Phi Kappa Phi International Honor Society, and the SCPS Chapter Councilor of Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society. During her 25 years in higher education, Leyfane has demonstrated her expertise by co-authoring and publishing work with esteemed faculty and peers and has presented on various important topics such as Black Genealogy, Resiliency in the Urban African American Youth, Understanding Generational Differences, and African-centered Pedagogy: Brown v. Board. Her qualifications include certifications in project management, content marketing, graphic design, liberal learning and has completed an advanced study of and application in diversity and inclusion. She was recently awarded a Phi Kappa Phi Badge for the Love of Learning. Leyfane understands the unique characteristics of adult learners, navigating the challenges and leveraging innovative tools that empower them, as she has first-hand experience. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Media Communications and a Master of Arts in Educating Adults with a focus on Community Engaged Learning, both from DePaul University.
